Kindy Drama is here!
Tens of thousands of children worldwide already benefit from the acclaimed drama programme offered by The Helen O’Grady Drama Academy. This programme is now being offered from an earlier age through our new and exciting Kindy Drama classes!
The aim of the Academy is to give children on-going confidence, self esteem and skill in verbal communication. In Kindy Drama this is achieved through storytelling, dramatic play, speech training, creative movement, songs and lots of language activities. All of these sections are specially written and adapted for this age group and prove to be lots of fun!
We guarantee children will benefit over a period of time, developing vital social and language skills. Through our programme children will learn to:
¬ speak with more confidence
¬ increase their self esteem
¬ work in group situations
¬ share and take turns appropriately
¬ develop new friendships
¬ improve listening and concentration skills
Principal, JUDY ADAMS, who has run Primary and Youth Theatre classes for the past 12 years, says: “I am delighted to now provide pre-school classes in our area. Having seen young children develop so much in primary classes, the opportunity to introduce them to our programme from the age of three is indeed exciting. Parents are thrilled younger siblings can now benefit from Academy classes so much earlier.”
We can improve basic speech, language and communication skills through our unique and affordable programme and now we can extend this to pre-school children, from just 3 years old! Classes are available now in Plumsteadevery Tuesday 10am – 10.45am at THE ASCENSION CHURCH HALL, ANCASTER STREET, PLUMSTEAD.

What is KINDYDRAMA?
The ethos of our school is to empower children and their natural self through creative drama, working with children to build confidence, communication and interactive skills though drama techniques, for example: storytelling, improvisation, devised theatre and play, mime and dance and much more.
We have a fantastic drama curriculum which runs throughout school terms. We have recently started drama classes for 3 and 4 year olds in your area and I thought you may be interested in offering drama to pre school children in your centre.
The sessions run for 45 minutes per class and parents stay or wait outside depending upon the age of the child and ratio of teacher and children. The sessions run set and seasonal themes throughout the year. Our lessons are structured and devised to allow creative development as we believe every child matters and drama is such a rewarding experience regardless of age. Children take from drama what they need and we work with the children to achieve whatever that may be, no matter what age they are.

PRE- SCHOOL PROGRAMME
The Helen O’Grady Drama Academy Kindy Programme is designed for children aged 3 – 5 years. It has been carefully devised to complement the existing Helen O’Grady Drama Academy’s Primary and Youth programmes.
As such, the aim of the Kindy programme is to give children ongoing confidence, self esteem, effective social interaction skills and a sound grounding in early childhood language.
This is achieved through speech training, concentrating on formative language skills, creative movement, dramatic role play, storytelling, music, songs and the use of plenty of hands on materials.
Every term, the curriculum is divided into themes. Each theme has 3 lessons, which run for 3 weeks of the term. The themes are readily identifiable to the preschooler and appropriate for the 3 – 5 year old age group. Within each theme, children will experience props, costumes or craft material connected to the topic.
Children in the 3 – 5 year old age group are still learning classroom rules and etiquette, social interaction skills within a group and concentration and focussing skills. With this in mind, the lessons are 45 minutes in duration and contain a number of short lesson segments. Although the content will vary from week to week, the segments follow the same format each week to provide security and structure for the children.

How does a childs brain develope? Saturday, December 05, 2009 @ 11:34:28 GMT by ian (206 reads) | Joseph Chilton Pearce in his book, Evolution's End, sees a child's potential as a seed that needs to be nurtured and nourished in order to grow properly. If the environment doesn't provide the necessary nurturing (and protections from over-stimulation), then certain potentials and abilities cannot be realized. The infant is born with 10 billion nerve cells or neurons and spends the first three years of life adding billions of glial cells to support and nourish these neurons (Everett 1992). These neurons are then capable of forming thousands of interconnections with each other via spider-like projections called dendrites and longer projections called axons that extend to other regions of the brain.
